Admission Arrangements

Most children join us in our Reception Class in the academic year in which they turn five. Experience shows that even the youngest of our children adjust quickly to the demands of a full day at school and we certainly see the benefits academically and socially for all children. Our PAN for each year group is 20 children.

We welcome parents and carers to visit our school to see the school in action, please contact the school office to make an appointment. We have clear transition arrangements in place so that your child’s start to school is a happy one.

Dales Academies Trust serves as the admission authority for the academy, overseeing the determination of its admission arrangements. The Trust has determined that all admissions will be coordinated through the Local Authority’s admission system.

Therefore, applications for places at South Otterington CE Primary School must comply with the statutory Admission Code and be submitted using the Common Application Form provided and managed by the Local Authority on behalf of South Otterington CE Primary School.

The Authority has established coordinated admission schemes as required by law for the upcoming academic year. This process involves parents completing the Common Application Form to express their preferences, while the Authority liaises with schools and other local authorities on their behalf.

The Local Authority will notify parents of the outcome of their application, including reasons for any refusals and information on the appeals process if a place at their preferred schools is denied.

On the national offer day, the Local Authority will communicate the results of individual applications to parents on our behalf.
